Artist Statement: Remake of The Bells of Atlantis

In 1973 40 years ago I watched The Bells of Atlantis as part of my film production class. At that time this film was considered the perfect blend of art, film and poetry. I thought at the time that I could add to the film without doing damage to the originality. Given at that time that technology was not that much different than in 1940 when it was made I could not do what I had wanted to, until now.
This video remake of this film is intended to support and recognize the artistry of the original movie while adding  newer key elements while keeping the original soundtrack intact. I added more reflective surface footage super imposed over the old film. The addition of an underwater perspective near the beginning, was filmed by rotating the camera 180 degrees to  film the reflections in the water. Doing this would add the illusion of looking up through the water at the land.
Even though this remake only consists of the first third of the original film I believe I was still able to capture the essence of the original idea.
